been made?
Can you make one yourself?

difficult?
Why not look at this picture with a friend and talk about what you see together?
To make the mat, you'll need to start with one large sheet of paper. Can you see which colour this background sheet is in the picture?
Now look at how you could make the other patterns.
This image is intended as a stimulus to encourage children to talk
about what they see. You could ask them to discuss
first in pairs and then to share their ideas with the whole
group. This is an opportunity for pupils to refine
their use of mathematical language and this discussion will help
them decide how to reconstruct the
mat.
