NRICH Live for Primary and Secondary Teachers
Nurturing young problem solvers - offering opportunities for reasoning, convincing and proving
Tuesday 21 January 2025, 16:00-16:50 GMT for Primary teachers
Wednesday 22 January 2025, 16:00-16:50 GMT for Secondary teachers
Reasoning, convincing and proving are at the heart of mathematics. Mathematicians are not satisfied by vague assertions that something seems to be true, they need to be convinced that there is no doubt.
Join Charlie and Liz to consider how our classrooms can offer learners opportunities to construct reasoned arguments, to convince themselves and then convince each other, rather than simply depending on the teacher for mathematical justifications.
These will be the fifth webinars in our Primary and Secondary Developing Mathematical Thinking series.
You may like to watch the recordings of our first four webinars before attending the final one in this series:
- Exploring and Noticing
- Working Systematically
- Conjecturing and Generalising
- Visualising and Representing
Please follow the links below to book via Eventbrite:

School-run Maths Clubs, Maths Fairs and Family Events
Based on the popular resources enjoyed by students attending our NRICH Roadshows, these free resources enable schools to plan and deliver their own maths fairs and maths days for 5-16 year-old students (we've even included a helpful spreadsheet to support planning!).
