First I worked out that 4-(4÷4)x4=12
To get it I tried all the different combinations with brackets and without. Till I finally had the idea to try and make 3 in only two moves e.g. 4 –(4÷4)=3 . So then with your remaining moves times it by four which will make your answer twelve.
Secondly I worked out 4x4-(4÷4)=15
I needed some way to minus one from sixteen. This brought me to get sixteen from 4x4 then minusing the one so it ends up like this 4x4-(4÷4)=16 .
Thirdly I did sixteen which was the easiest one to do because 4+4+4+4=16 but I found more than one answer.
1. 4x4+4-4=16
2. 4x4x4÷4=16
3. 4+4+4+4=16
Next I did 17 which wasn’t quite so easy.
I used the method of 15 to help. And in the end I got it right.
1. 4x4-(4÷4)=15
Then I started to do the sums up to ten.
And here’s my answers
0.4-4-4+4=0
1.4÷4-(4-4)=1
2.4÷4+(4÷4)=2
3.4+4+4÷4=3
4.4-4x4+4=4
5.4x4+4÷4=5
6.4+4÷4+4=6
7.4+4-(4÷4)=7
8.4-4+4+4=8
9.4÷4+4+4=9
10.4+4+4-4√=10
