Stage 3:
ANSWERS:
Red triangle:0
Yellow diamond:1
Purple square:2
Blue rectangle:3
Orange oval:4
Purple star:5
Green triangle:6
Yellow semi circle:8
Green star:9
Blue hexagon:10
Red circle:12
SOLUTION:
Firstly, it is easiest to work out what the value of either the purple square or the blue rectangle is as they are both square roots.
You would do this by writing all the square numbers from 0-12: 1,4,9.
Now, you know that the green star has to be 9 because you could only do 9 times 1 or 9 times 0 to keep in the number limit but there is no other equation shown with that green star making that having to be that answer.
Then you know that the square root of 9 is 3 resulting in the blue rectangle being 3. Then you understand that the orange oval has to be 4 as it cannot be 1 because then all the three symbols in the equation will be the same, therefore the purple square is the square root of 4 which is 2.
By these answers you are able to fill in multiplications A and B. After doing so, you realise the red circle is 12 and the yellow semi circle is 8.
In E you can workout the green triangle as you would do 12 divided by 2 which is 6.
In F, 8 times something (n) has to equal n and that can only be the number 0, meaning that the red triangle is 0.
In H, you know that the blue hexagon has to be 10 because if you look in equation G all the remaining numbers: 1, 5 are odd numbers they are not divisible by 2 but 10 is. So then you can work out that the yellow diamond in H has to be 1 as that's the only number which when you times it be another number gives you that number.
Finally you know that the purple star has to be 5 as 10 divided by 2 is 5.
