If the raised brick pattern continued there would be a layer of 2 and then a layer of 1. Then the pattern would stop. The sector pattern would carry on in the same way through wider rings. In the circle pattern there would be 7 small circles in each large circle. If there were 4 large circles in a very large circle then there would be 28 small circles in a very large circle.
If you started with 9 bricks there would be 45 bricks overall because each row has 1 less brick than the one before it.
However many sectors you start with, the same number would continue as the rings get larger.
If there were 9 small circles per large circle and 16 large circles (multiple of 4 to get the right shape for the circle) per very large circle then there would be 144 small circles per very large circle.
