Magic Numbers
Charlie said that the magic Vs were the same as his because not only did they use the same consecutive numbers but the arms had the same total as his V. If you are only using numbers one to five you can never get a different V. If you use numbers two to six you can only get the numbers eleven and twelve.
To get a magic V with a total of one thousand each arm must have a total of five hundred. For example:
100 50
150 200
250
What I did was start with a magic V I already knew:
2 1
3 4
5
Each arm had a total of ten. I then multiplied each number in the V by 50.
100 50
150 200
250
Each arm had a total of five hundred, by multiplying each number by fifty was basically multiplying ten by fifty to get five hundred.
