If you have 4 buttons you have 4 different places to start then you have 3 places as you took up the space of 1 then you must do it with 2 so then 1. With this you have to times 4 with 3 then 2 then 1 so the awnswer to 4x3x2x1=24. You can do the same with 5 buttons and 6 buttons which is 5x4x3x2x1 and 6x5x4x3x2x1 which is 120 and 720 respectively you can also use this in a test like if it says I have 1 pink, 1 blue, 1 yellow and 1 green button, how many combinations can I make. You can do the same thing and have 4 places then 3 then 2 then 1 so 4x3x2x1=24 different combinations. Thanks Ruel.
