I wrote out out all the numbers from 1 to 8 and then picked 5, 6, 7 and 8. I then arranged them so that I had a 7 and a 5 on the left hand side. Then I put 8 and 6 on the right hand side. I then put the biggest two of the remaining numbers on the left hand side to get 74 and 53. Then I had 81 and 62 on the right hand side and that works. Then I add added 74 and 53 and I got 127.
