Think of a number............I chose 4.
Add 4 to your number.......4 plus 4 equals 8.
Double your number..........8 doubled (or multiplied by 2) equals 16.
Finally, subtract 7.............16 subtract 7 gives you a final answer of 9.

How does the calculator find your starting number?

The calculator does this in reverse. So for my example, it would start at my final number, 9. It then adds 7 to 9, leaving you with 16. 16 divided by two equals 8 and 8 minus 4 equals my starting number, 4.
