For the 5 point star problem, because the 5 pointed star has 1 pentagon in the middle and 5 triangles connected on the outside, and a triangle's angle sum is 180 degrees and there are 5 triangles, you must multiply the 5 triangles by 180 degrees which is 900 degrees. Then, you have to calculate the angle sum of the pentagon in the middle which is 540 degrees. Altogether that equals 1440 degrees.
For the 7 point star problem, there are 14 triangles of different size and a 4 point polygon in the middle. Like the last problem, do the same thing. 14 multiplied by 180 degrees is 2520 and the 4 point polygon in the middle is 360 degrees. Add them all together and you get 2880 degrees in total.
