in order to solve this I started by thinking what 3xe would be if it ended in 1 and I realised that it must be seven because there are no numbers in the three times table up to thirty that ended in 1 apart from 21 (3x7).Then because there are two carried over I looked for a number that was 2 less than something ending in 7 which would be ending in 5 and 3x5 equals 15 which when u carry the 2 you get 17
