In all instances, I would note down the multiples of a certain number, for example, for J x 3, i would write down the multiples of 3 until I got one that ended in a 2. In the end, I landed on 12, which when divided by three, would get 4 which was the value for J. I would then repeat this process, step by step, until I managed to evaluate the values for all of the letters. Next, I'd check my answer by repeating the multiplication problem, this time, with the values that i worked out for the letters instead of the actual letters, for example, for the second question, instead of working out 2FGHIJ x 3, I would work out. 225714 x 3.
