My solution to the "Terminating or Not" problem is to prime factorize the denominator.
If all of the prime factors are either 2 or 5, the fraction can be written as a terminating decimal.
For example,
2/3 = 0.666...
4/5 = 0.8
17/50 = 0.34
3 is not a factor of 10.
5 is a factor of 10.
50 only includes prime factors of ten. Although 50 is not divisible by ten, it is divisible by 100. Any number that is divisible by a power of ten (10,100,1000, etc.) will be a terminating number.
