Say you start with some number x. You then add three, i.e. x+3. Multiply by two. 2(x+3). Add 4. 2(x+3)+4. Halve. x+3+2. Subtract your number. x+3+2-x=3+2=5. By eliminating all the x's you remove any randomness, leaving you with the same answer every time
