To solve this problem I overlapped 3 squares.The first one in the middle, one overlapping the top right corner of the first one and one overlapping the bottom left corner of the first square, making sure the two squares that overlapped touched corners.This created 4 squares.

When I used 4 squares I also made 4 squares.I did the same process as using 3 squares but added one square in the bottom right corner of the first square making sure all the corners met in the middle of the first square.
