"If you add 1 to an odd number, you get an even number."
This is true for whole numbers because the ones column is the column that decides whether a number is odd or even and when you add 1 onto either 1, 3,5,7 or 9, you get an even number.
For fraction, it's sometimes true, because if you add 1 to 1/7 you would have an odd number i.e. 7/7 and 1/7.
