We attempted the money bags challenge and we found this solution: we figured out initially that in order for him to pay the amount between 1 and 15 without opening any bags or having excess change left out, one bag had to contain an amount between 1 and 15. We chose this number to be 1. This then got our total down to 14. We then had a choice of many possibilities. We decided that we would get the number of coins down to 10, so the 2nd bag contains 4 coins. That again left us with several possibilities. In the end we chose 8 and 2. These were the number of coins for bags 3 and 4. This taught us that maths is an incredibly useful tool in our lives and it pops up in our day to day life all the time. When you’re paying for your lunch for instance!
