Question1

First we had to find out a multiple of 3 which ended in 1 and could be multiplied by a 1 digit number. The multiplication sum that would work was 7X3=21. We carried the 2 over to the tens column. We already knew that e=7 so the next multiplication sum had to end in 5 so we could add that to the 2 to make the 7 we needed. We continued the process till we finished. We checked that is was right and it was.
a = 4
b=2
c=8
d=5
e=7

Question 2
First we started to figure out what j is in the sum. jX3=2. We know that the unit number of the answer had to be 2. We worked out that j =4 because with 4X3=12, the unit is 2. 1 had to be carried over so the next answer had to have a unit number 4 as iX3=j. Working it out we found that I=1. We continued this process and the final answer was: F=8, G=5, H=7, I=1 and J=4
