My solution is that the scoring system works in a pattern. For example, if I picked the middle dot and it scored 3 then I would try the dots around it,and if the dot below scored 3 I'd know that the pattern is straight up and so on.

The dots don't have an assorted pattern to make the highest score possible,it's just hit and miss. I have not yet discovered how to make the highest score possible but I will keep trying.
