We found this problem very difficult because first you must work out which of the two formulas goes to which events. We tried at first using the same formula,(y=a(b-x)to the power of c) but this proved a hinderence as the track events worked perfectly fine, giving high scores for each one, but low/invalid scores for the distance ones. When we tryed the other one, it didn't work for the 200m, 800m, 100mh, high jump or long jump, but did for shot put/javalin, so we knew this was the distance formula, and we later realised that you must do the long/high jumps in cm, not m. (e.g. 5.67 should be 567) With both formula worked out, we totaled them up, giving an answer of 5557.567, over 400 of her target! Then you must increase some of the events, and we strongly sudjest that you don't increase any of the running ones as she already has high scores on them. Instead, we think you should give her three weakest events (long jump, shot put and high jump) a 20% boost and give javalin a 10% one, making her more all-rounded as a sports woman and increasing her score to 6685.717 giving her 1000 more points in total, therefore surpassing hergoal of 6000 points. We strongly surgest you record all of your data in an exel spredsheet, and use the IAAF website for guidense and info just like we did.
