First of all to work out the times table you need to find the difference between each number. You then take the first number of that times table away from the first number of the sequence and that is how many it has been shifted by. For example if you had 7, 12, 17, 22 you would find that the difference between 7 and 12 and 17 and 22 etc is 5. Therefore it is the 5 times table. You would then do 7-5 or 12-10 etc to get 2. Therefore that example is the 5 times table shifted up by 2.
