Q1. Medal count
France:
Gold medals:7
Silver medals:16
Bronze medals:18
Italy:
Gold medals: 8
Silver medals: 9
Bronze medals:10
Japan:
Gold medals:9
Silver medals:6
Bronze medals:10
I got these results by first entering the data given into a table. The information is that France had 18 bronze medals and 7 gold medals which was the fewest amount of gold medals. I then worked out that Italy had 8 gold medals as that is half of France's gold medals (18). I then found out that Italy must have 10 bronze medals as it said they had two more bronze medals than gold medals. I then found out that Italy had 9 silver medals as the total number of medals had to add up to 27. From this, i was also able to figure out how many silver medals France had as it was double the amount of Italy's gold medals which was 20.
From my results of what Italy had, I was able to figure out Japan's medals. For example it said they had 1 more gold medal than Italy so must have 9 gold medals. It also said that they had 3 fewer silver medals so must have had 6. As the 38 bronze medals in total, I figured out that Japan must have 12 bronze medals.
