WHen you add three consecutive numbers the answer is always in the three times table.
For example, if you take 7+8+9, a simple way to find the answer is to do 8x3. The answer is 24. If you take the middle number of any sequence of three consecutive numbers and times it by three it will give you the answer.
This works because if you took one off the nine and added it to the seven you would end up with three groups of eight.
