We started by cutting out the 9 squares to the correct measurements.
Mollie stated that the rectangle would need to be larger than 18cm because if you had a rectangle with a width of 18cm, the remaining pieces (squares) would need to fit together and lay beside to form a complete rectangle and this did not work.
So as a group we worked together. We thought that it would be simpler to use the bigger squares first and fit the remaining ones to fill in.
We did this by trial and error until we formed a rectangle. The rectangle measured 32cm by 33cm.
