I think that the tower is being moved closer or further away to the cottage to give the illusion that it is getting bigger or smaller or taller and wider. If it was getting bigger you would see considerable changes in the size and shape of the tower, not just how big it looks. And, the clue is in the title, EYE View... Giving the hint that it is, just an Optical Illusion.
