A standard family car weighs about 2000 kg. We researched this.

One player on a rugby team weighs approximately 15st which is equal to 105kg. We got this by knowing that 1 stone is 14 pounds which is about 7kg. Therefore a whole team of 15 players would be 1575kg.

A million cubic centimetres of water weighs 1000kg. We got this by weighing some water and found that 1ml weighs 1g and knowing that 1cm cubed is 1ml.

We assumed that in each year half the people (450 students) ate chips. We knew that the cafeteria only served chips twice a week, and that each person would eat 1 potato worth of chips per meal. We found out what a potato weighed by weighing a block of wood of similar weight and found this to be half a kg. Then we found that the total weight is 450kg.

Our ascending order of Mass is:

1. Potatoes to feed the school
2. Water in a million cubic centimetres
3. A team of rugby players
4. A standard family car
