I started by thinking to myself, what number multiplied by 3 equals a number ending in 1? Once I found that 3 x 7 = 21, I then carried the 2 over above the D. Now that I knew e = 7 I replace all the e's with 7, including the e in the already provided answer. I then figured out that 7 - 2 = 5 so the next letter (d) has to equal a number that ends in 5 when multiplied by three. I repeated this canculation until complete then checked my answer with a simple column multiplication.
