When you have 3 of the same number, you get a multiple of three. I thought that you can have three groups of numbers: multiples of three minus 1, multiples of three, and multiples of three plus one. If you continuously add or subtract three you can get one of three numbers: 1, 2, or 3. Adding or subtracting three won’t matter, because no matter how big or small they get, they will still be in the same group. You can either have each group used once to have the numbers 1, 2, and 3, which we add them up to get 6. If there isn’t one of each group, that means that there must be three of another group, so you can take those to make a multiple of three.
