To Whom It May Concern,
I hope you are all safe an well. I use NRICH a great deal to push and extend my higher attaining pupils. It is a fantastic resource and I really appreciate all that you do, especially as it is all free.
Last academic year I submitted some work for the first time on behalf of one of my pupils – Andy in my Maths Challenge Group. We had noticed that there was not yet a solution posted to the Count Me In problem and I was so impressed with Andy’s solution, I suggested to him we submit it. It was a collaborative effort and I submitted it on behalf of Andy and the group last year. I told them as far as I was concerned, it seemed to be entirely accurate and very thorough and that it had a good chance of being featured as the first solution.
Andy and the others have been regularly checking with me to see if it has been featured, they were still quite hopeful they might see it go up. As such, Andy and my Maths Challenge Group recently took another look at it and realised that I had not provided them with the second image containing the second set of numbers. Of course we found that although the rules Andy created worked, they had not been applied to the correct set of numbers. Please find their revised solution attached, I know you only tend to review them once a year but I hope you might be able to find time to take another look at it as the children are very excited at the prospect of seeing their solution being posted.
Thanks again for all the great work you do, the children love working on your problems and it gets them exploring concepts at a far deeper level than they would otherwise.
We look forward to potentially seeing our solution going up!
Kind regards,
David Morris
