42 + 3 is the easiest because 3 is a unit and that means that you can count on your fingers if you need to and the answer is 45. 42+18 is the 2nd easiest because we can add up tens without going into the thousands same with the units 4+1=5 and 2+8=10 change the 5 into 50 and add 10. 42+39 is the 3rd easiest because you can do 4+3 =7 so you must know 9+2=11 you make the 7 into 70 and then you do 70 +11 which equals 81. 46+47 is the hardest because 7+6=13 and 13 is in the tens and you know 4+4 so you make the 8 an 80 and add 13 +80 to get 93.
26-10 is the easiest because 10 is in the tens so is 26 so you take 10 away from 26 and the answer is 16.
26-3 is the 2nd easiest because 3 is a unit so you can do this on your fingers count backwards from 26 3 times and you get 23.
26-7 this is the 3rd easiest because if you count backward from 26 7 times you will get 19.
26-18 is the hardest because if I had 26 apples and I ate 18 I would be left with 8 apples.
