The way I solved the treasure hunt question is I choose two random coordinates. Next I looked at how many steps away (lets say 10 steps away) the treasure is from my coordinates then chose another set of coordinates 10 steps away in any direction lets say these coordinates are 8 steps away this time so what I have to do know is find some coordinates that are 10 steps away from my first set of coordinates and 8 steps away from my second. So on so forth util you find the treasure.
