If the square is cut near the top, a small triangle is formed alongside a larger triangle and an irregular pentagon. These shapes all have right angles which can be used to make the sides of the square.

First arrange the larger shapes to make a square which lacks the small triangle, which is the perfect size to make the perfect square.
