This half term we have done a unit all about angles. We had previously investigated angle facts and angles in triangles. Last lesson we explored tessellations and discovered the importance of angles in order for shapes to tessellate. We used all our knowledge today to tackle the shogi shapes puzzle. We worked in pairs and focused on our mathematical language and arguments. We disagreed on some but by using proofs and our knowledge we managed to persuade other groups how we had got our answers. In particular the last shape we disagreed whether they were equilateral triangles or not but could prove this using the kites in the centre.

Year 7 thoroughly enjoyed this activity! Thanks for a great, thought provoking lesson.

I have attached some of our solutions, I hope they work.
