All four sets of numbers given are odd numbers. The total number is an odd number. The problem wants you add the odd numbers an even number of times to make an odd number; however, this is mathematically impossible. Our evidence is that if you add odd numbers and even number of times (in our case 10 times) the answer is always even. For example:

1+3=4
1+3+5+7=16
1+3+5+7+9+11=36
