My answer to the 24 tile square pool square ribbon challenge
The biggest ribbon square they can make is 4.5 tiles by 4.5 tiles. The smallest ribbon square they can make is 0.5 by 0.5.
These are all the combinations. 4.5x4.5, 4x4, 3.5x3.5, 3x3, 2.5x2.5, 2x2, 1.5x1.5, 1x1, 0.5x0.5.
There are 9 combinations.
You can also get a square that has been turned 45 degrees.

My answer to the 20 tile square pool square ribbon challenge
I found out that if the pool was made out of 20 tiles there would be fewer combinations.
The largest square they can make is 3.5x3.5 and the smallest is still 0.5x0.5.
These are all the combinations. 3.5x3.5, 3x3, 2.5x2.5, 2x2, 1.5x1.5, 1x1, 0.5x0.5.
There are 7 combinations.
You can’t get a square that has been turned 45 degrees on the 20 tile swimming pool.
