Level One

Began at random. Chose point 3 steps away. Failed to act upon information and turned to point 8 steps away. Went right once from “three steps away” point. Got point two steps away. Repeated process. Got point one step away. Went further right. Got point two steps away. Went up. Got point one step away. Went down. Found treasure.

Level Two

Began at random. Chose point 3 steps away. Went right. Got point 4 steps away. Went further right. Got point 5 steps away. Went left from first point. Got point 4 steps away. Went down from first point. Got point 2 steps away. Went further down. Got point 1 step away. Went left. Got point 2 steps away. Went down from previous point. Found treasure.

Level Three

Began at random. Chose point 10 steps again. Did random try again. Got point 14 steps away. Returned to first point and travelled right. Got point 9 steps away. Repeated. Got point 8 steps away. Repeated this till reaching point 3 steps away. Went right. Got point 4 steps away. Returned to previous point and went down. Got point 4 steps away. Went right from this point. Got point 5 steps away. Went up 3 steps from the “3 steps away” point, outside the purple region. Found treasure.

Level Four

Began at random. Have been reiterating and so failed to record many guesses, but eventually landed at point three steps away, tried many false leads, progressed to two steps, progressed to one, turned to two, and found treasure.

My Strategy

I begin randomly upon the graph, then progress in each direction of the compass separately. Once I find one that minimizes the number of steps to the treasure, I continue until the number begins to increase. When that happens, I retrace my steps to the coordinate of the lowest step number and then once more progress in each direction of the compass separately. Once I find the right direction, I continue upon it till I find the treasure.

I tried my best, but I know that this strategy leaves much to be desired, and believe that I will improve upon it in the future.
