To work out the first question, "What happens to the graph once Pat gets back to the gate?", I took the dog for a walk and looked at the graph at the bottom when I got back to the gate.

When I reproduced the first graph, I realised that Pat had stayed the same distance from the gate. I then just kept clicking the up arrow and it worked.

When I reproduced the second graph, I went down until the line got to the middle of the graph and then I went back to the gate.
