What me and my partner did is a worked out that the triangle has to be a multiple of three so that you can take away three from the horizontal line so that the circle can be a multiple of three because their are three of them. Me and my partener then worked along the three times table and found out that six would fit in.

We worked out that:
the triangle =6
the square =8
the circle =4
the hexagon =7
