Square pairs

Take it in turns to play a counter. Can you pair them off to make square numbers?
To play this game you will need someone to play with, and counters or cards numbered 1-16.

Shuffle the counters or cards and share them equally with your opponent.

Decide who will go first.

On each turn, you can play a counter or card from your hand on the table.

Take it in turns to play a counter or card.

If you can pair your counter or card with a number that's already on the table so the total is a square number, you can take those two counters/cards and play again.

Keep playing until someone runs out of counters/cards. The other player can then continue to play until they have made all the possible square pairs.

The winner is the person who makes the most square pairs.
