Amazing Alphabet Maze
Can you go from A to Z right through the alphabet in the hexagonal
maze?
In the diagram below can you go from A to Z right through the alphabet? You must go to every letter in order, visiting every hexagonal cell once and once only, without crossing the path you are making.

Why not write out the alphabet in order before starting on the problem?
If you print out this sheet you will get $6$ copies of the maze to work on.

Why do this problem?
This problem could be introduced as a transition between literacy and numeracy lessons. As well as providing practice with the order of the alphabet, this problem also involves maths by using pathways. It requires careful consideration because there appears to be several options from each cell. Again, a moment
of reflection and observation helps children to avoid rushing at the task and literally going down the wrong path!
Key questions
What is the next letter of the alphabet after that?
Can you see another copy of that letter that you could move to instead?
