Trace the edges
Problem
Here are five poyhedra:
You can trace a path along all of the edges, without going over any edge twice, on only one of these shapes.
Which shape is it and how do you do it?
Getting Started
Try each shape in turn, starting from different vertices (corners).
It might be a good idea to start with the less complex shapes!Student Solutions
Zoe, working from home, agreed with Camilla and Amy from Cottesmore School that you can trace round the edges of the octagon. Camilla and Amy attached this picture to show how it is done:
They explain:
Follow up the black squares, come back down on the red squares, go right up to the top following the light brown squares, come half way down the dark blue squares and follow round the square in the centre with the light blue, lavender, dark brown and pink squares. You are now at the point where you come down the light green squares and finish!
Well done both of you!
