We started by cutting out the rectangle and folding it into quarters.
Top left hand quarter
* we decided that shape 1 is 1/8 because it is a half of a quarter.
Bottom left hand quarter
*we cut out shape 8 and placed it on the other shapes to see how they were made up.
*we found that shape 4 was a quarter of this quarter and so 1/16
* shape 8 is half of shape 4 so must be 1/32
* shape 7 is three times bigger than shape 8 1/32 + 1/32 + 1/32 = 3/32
Top right hand quarter
* shape 2 is 1/16 because it is a quarter of the quarter.
*shape 3 is three times bigger than shape 2 1/16 + 1/16 + 1/16 = 3/16
Bottom right hand quarter
* Shape 5 is a half of the quarter so 1/8
*Shape 6 is a half of shape 5 so half of 1/8 which is 1/16
* shape 9 is half of shape 6 so half of 1/16 which is 1/32
*shape 10 is half of shape 9 which is half of 1/32 and 1/64
Shape 1 = 1/8
Shape 2 = 1/16
Shape 3 = 3/16
Shape 4 = 1/16
Shape 5 = 1/8
Shape 6 = 1/16
Shape 7 = 3/32
Shape 8 = 1/32
Shape 9 = 1/32
Shape 10 = 1/64
