.First of all I realized that number 1 was 1/8 of the rectangle by counting individually how many times it fit into the larger the shape.

.I saw that number 2 was half the size of number 1 therefor I doubled the denominator and worked out that the answer had to be 1/16.

.I looked at the shape number 3 and immediately saw that number 1 and 2 were equivalent to shape 3 and added the numerators together to get 3/16.But that meant I had to find the equivalence of 1/8 so I could add numbers 1 and 2 together so I didn't get mixed up.

.I had to think about number 4 as it is a triangle not a quadrilateral. So first of all I saw that number 4 was half of the size of number 1 and looked at my previous answers and saw that number 2 was also half of number 1 so this meant it had to be the same answer even if it was a different shape.

.For number 5 I simply counted how many times it fit in the bigger rectangle and it was 1/8 and then I saw the same answer as shape 1 and looked carefully and I saw a link between shapes 1 and 5 as half of 1 is the top half of 5 if you cut number 1 down the middle.

Unfortunately I did not have time to finish my explanations of the further shapes but I had fun doing the work :)Kai
