Firstly I started with trial and improvement to give me totals close to £100 and 100 people. Then I started thinking of multiples of 5, these are simple multiples and I estimated this would be near 100.
My first attempt for multiples of 5 was as follows:
P = 45
A = 5
C = 50
This resulted in a total of £105.
I realised that if I subtracted 2 adults and swapped these with 2 pensioners the total would come to exactly £100.
