when you first make the square smaller (fold in the four corners)one of the triangles would be an 8th of the square you started with because if you turn over the square to make it into a plain square that square is a half therefore
the four triangles you have are altogether a half so 1 triangle would be an 8th.
If you carry on the process , finding out what each triangles faction of the starting square is. when you have folded back the first bit that is a quarter of the 8th you started with.With the answer you got or the second set of triangles you must work out an 8th of that then with the answer you worked out with the 3rd set of triangles you must find 16th of that.
