Sending Cards
This challenge asks you to investigate the total number of cards that would be sent if four children send one to all three others. How many would be sent if there were five children? Six?
Dice and Spinner Numbers
If you had any number of ordinary dice, what are the possible ways of making their totals 6? What would the product of the dice be each time?

This problem gives children a chance to apply knowledge of
number operations and gain confidence in using a trial and
improvement approach.

Children could make up their own version of this problem for a
friend to solve.
Possible support
Using differently coloured counters to represent boys and
girls might help some children access this problem - it will allow
them to refine their answer try without being afraid of
writing down something that turns out to be wrong.
