NRICH: Partners with you in developing rich mathematical learning

The NRICH team is delighted to work with you to help you develop rich mathematical learning opportunities for all students. We work with teachers and learners in a number of different ways, offering either 'off-the-peg' sessions (see examples given below) or bespoke sessions tailored to your needs.

INSET day programmes

Our most popular programmes of Teacher Professional Development broadly fall into three main themes:

  • NRICHing the Curriculum
Primary: Supporting Children to Become Expert Reasoners; Focusing on FluencyProgression through Problem Solving
Secondary: Starting with a Rich Challenge; Building a Community of Mathematicians; Consolidating with Rich Tasks
  • Mathematical Habits of Mind
Developing Curious, Resilient and Resourceful Learners; Thinking Mathematically; Mastering Mathematics
  • Enhancing Subject Knowledge
Embedding Problem Solving in Geometry; Fractions Unpacked

Extended Programmes of Teacher Professional Development

We run extended programmes of teacher professional development (three or more days) in locations around the UK and beyond.

Our aim is to inspire and stimulate debate around rich tasks and deep mathematical learning.

To get a flavour of what we do, here are some examples:

Conference keynotes and workshops

We promote the exploration of rich tasks and look at how these can be embedded in curricula and classrooms.

We stimulate debate about the nature of mathematics, its beauty and creativity, its place in 21st century life, and how this impacts on the provision made for mathematics in our classrooms.

Student Workshops

We offer bespoke workshops for learners of all ages:

Developing your Mathematical Fitness
Rethinking Reasoning
Convincing Yourself, Convincing Others
Thinking Mathematically

To find out more about any of these opportunities or to tailor some CPD to suit your needs please
contact Fran Watson (primary) or Charlie Gilderdale (secondary), we look forward to hearing from you.
