On November 6 2008, we launched this exciting new project working together with Devon Education Services. The aims were:
- To raise teachers' awareness of the NRICH website as a source of 'low threshold high ceiling' rich mathematical tasks
- To help teachers use rich mathematical tasks to develop using and applying in the classroom
- To explore the potential of rich mathematical tasks as contexts in which to assess pupils' progress
- To improve the quality of support offered for teachers on the NRICH website through trialling of problems and subsequent feedback
Approximately twenty five teachers from Devon primary schools participated in the project and we held a feedback day on March 25 2009.
A series of two articles about the project appeared in the autumn 2009 and spring 2010 editions of Primary Mathematics, published by The Mathematical Association. You can also read them on NRICH: Part 1 and Part 2.
