Hints and tips for Flex GeomLab
- Only the Tools and Help menu work in this version.
- A quick test - type
man into the bottom window and
press Go. You should see a picture of a man.
- A good place to start is with this tutorial/worksheet.
- To get back previous expressions so that you can edit them and
submit them again, use the buttons marked '
<' and
'>'.
- The variable "
it" always stands for the
value of the last
expression to be entered. You can type an expression such as
"it
+ 9" to use this value in a further calculation.
- To see a larger version of any picture, resize or maximize the window or move the vertical divider bar.
The picture will be redrawn to occupy as much as possible of the space in
the resized window.
- If you want to change a function definition that you made earlier, there
are several ways to retrieve the text so that you can edit it:
- Use the buttons marked '
<' and
'>' to find the definition in the history.
- Look through the Output Panel, select the definition that you want and copy/paste it to the
input window. Use Right-Click (Control-click on the Mac) to access the copy/paste menu.
- Type the name of the function in the bottom pane and choose the
command 'Tools/Find definition'. The text of the definition will
replace the name in the bottom pane.
- To find a list of all the names that are defined, choose the command
'Tools/List defined names'. A list of all the names you can use in
expressions will be inserted into the output pane.
