Using the trail

First read the introduction; it gives you a sense of what the trail as a whole is trying to achieve.

Early sections of the trail can utilise very simple versions of Logo but you will need to use something more substantial for all but the first few ideas.

There are many versions of LOGO available, some of which you will need to purchase but there are also versions that you can download free of charge for educational purposes for example MSW Logo.

The structure of the trail is designed to introduce different aspects of Logo programming alongside investigating some mathematical ideas.

Each module gives a new LOGO concept or skill and then applies that idea in a mathematical task. Alongside many modules are challenges designed to help you investigate some mathematical situations using the LOGO you have just learned. This will both check your LOGO skills but also challenge your mathematical understanding.

The trail is not designed to teach you how to use a piece of LOGO software but is about developing an understanding of the principles of LOGO and using it to create and investigate mathematical contexts.
